Bridgeman Arts designs, delivers and produces large public art spectacles that engage with the public in varied settings with the aim of dazzling and entertaining people, encouraging participation and enlivening local environments. In recent years we have created numerous walking giants that have been seen in several public events in and around central Scotland such as the Merchant City Festival (Glasgow), Sma Shot Day in Paisley, The Style Mile Christmas Carnival in Glasgow (and other Christmas events), Glasgow 850 and the inaugural Tartan Day Parade event in Edinburgh in 2025.
When you're out and about, there's nothing like a giant human figure to catch your eye and get you thinking about why they might be there. When that figure walks up to you and makes you part of their story, then that is another level altogether. At Bridgeman Arts we love bringing historical characters to life and telling a little of their story while simultaneously creating a new relationship with people in the here and now. With our works you are as likely to bump into an 18th century black American weaver living and working in Paisley as you are to spy FRANKENSTEIN or the poet ROBERT BURNS looking for his lover in a lane behind an old kirk. All of our characters have interesting pasts and are usually happy to attend events when invited. New characters can also be created for you if the conditions are right.
Have a look at some of our >OTHER PUPPETS. As of September 2025, we are creating several new puppet characters that will be seen in public in the coming months and we will add images of these to the website once they are completed. Along with our giant baroque Father Christmas, we will bring a giant Nutcracker and giant Elf along with their dazzling lively attendants to events this Christmas.
